COOPERATIVE PARENTING FOR DIVIDED FAMILIES GROUPS’ INITIATIVE 619 N. Murtland Avenue PETITION We, the undersigned, in recognition of our increasingly mobile society and the fact that custodial parents frequently move long distances from non-custodial parents, and in order to protect the interests of our children, request that the following legislation be enacted: 1.) That legitimate court orders for custody, partial custody, or visitation be enforceable, without regard to the residency of any of the parties involved, by means of the same reciprocal mechanisms currently used to enforce support orders. 2.) That issues of support, custody, and visitation be merged and considered by the courts as one issue for purposes of enforcement. 3.) That local courts be required to accept jurisdiction over visitation and custody orders issued by them, and enforce them, without regard the residency of the defendant, and without time limits. 4.) That custodial parents must not unreasonably withhold visitation from non-custodial parents without showing cause to the court, unless there is a clear and demonstrated danger to the children involved. |
