Responsible and Involved Dads (RAID)

RAID, Responsible and Involved Dads, came about because of the rising statistics

in teen pregnancy and the unfortunate deaths of several babies from teen parents in our community. Where are the fathers? Along with the rest of the country. We are asking that question. Our organization works for the purpose of locating, educating, and empowering these young men to solve the problems that face them in co-parenting their children. We have formulated a program that doesn't appear as an educational venture, but a sharing of information to elevate their levels of self esteem and factual knowledge.

Our RAID program lets these men know that there is help for them, and that they havethe support and backing of the community. Fathers who have experienced similar circumstances act as mentors and encourage the teen fathers themselves to be peer mentors. Mothers in our groups provide insight to these same young fathers on how to deal effectively with their child's mother.

We work in conjunction with several local hospital programs to identify and inform  young fathers of our work. Classes and individual sessions are incorporated into our organizational programs which can be accessed by attending our weekly meetings meet held each Thursday at the United Way Building, conducted by the Cooperative Parenting staff. For further information, contact the groups’coordinator, Denise Simpson, at 412-404-8514.
